HB 2051 expanding the eligibility of serving on Pension/Disability boards passed the House 96 to 0 on Saturday March 10, 2019.
This bill allows any active or retired firefighter or law enforcement officer who resides within the jurisdiction served by the board to be elected to a Prior Act and Law Enforcement Officers’ and Fire Fighters’ Retirement System Plan 1 disability board, if no eligible active or retired firefighter or law enforcement officer is willing or able.
The companion bill, SB 5920, is now with the Senate Rules Committee.
