AWC

The Association of Washington Cities is a lobbying organization that represents Washington’s cities and towns before the state legislature, the governor and regulatory agencies.  100% of  Washington’s 281 cities and towns belong to this organization.  We have included them in our Government section because of their role representing local government to the legislature.

We follow the actions of this group very carefully for two reasons.

First, they are a very powerful lobbying organization.  Remember all elections are local and the AWC speaks for the local area where the legislator must run for election.

Second, the AWC has specific concerns that relate to their obligation under the LEOFF 1 pension plan to provide medical coverage for members employed by or retired from the various cities and towns.  In the past the AWC has proposed legislation that would take money for the LEOFF 1 pension trust fund.
